Motueka Pickup brief – 05th November 2022

Departed Christchurch – 0700 am Arrived in Motueka – 1215 Our plan was to pickup and leave as per the timelines below: ETD Motueka – 1430 ETA Christchurch – 1945 (hoping to be back before sundown)

We decided to stop over at countdown for some tea stuffs before heading to the camp/pickup venue for some time of fellowship, stories, laughter and then get into the loading bit.... We ended up leaving Motueka at 1815 and arriving home at about midnight. Although, the travel was a bit tiring but the experience was exactly what we had anticipated as we started the building blocks of this venture years ago. Business with a difference was what we had planned on and we got exactly that on our first trip. The purpose was to use this as a tool to get to know our people better, forge new relationships, talk to people, listen to their stories and maybe re-tell some, play a game of touch, share in a cuppa (my brother Bill had 3, ok I had 3 as well ). It was quite good to see and hear their stories of just being thankful for the opportunities that they have been given and the doors that their employment has opened or could potentially open for them down the tracks. As we got into the business side of things, we spent the next hr or two running through the breakdowns, processes, answering questions, processing payments and also assuring them of the work that has been done in the background to ensure a safe passage for their goods and also shared on the uncontrollables in this industry. Things such as shipping delays, customs and other show-stoppers that may rear its ugly head and the plans in place to sort of mitigate them. This was quite an experience and as we bid farewell, we realised how very special and incredible it is to be in a position to serve and interact as this. We also acknowledge the other players in this market who have been doing their bit in serving our people diligently and have also paved the path that we now tread on!

Vinavalevu du Motueka! Sota leqwa!

PS: Vinaka Meki na veitaba. (Vaka via levu tale valailai na selfies!!)
